Misty autumn mornings.

Once upon a time I would have told you this type of day "sucked". The only "good" days are sunny days.

As I grew older (and hopefully a tad bit wiser 😜), I began to see the beauty in all types of days.

When I felt Mother Earth reaching out to me, I had no idea why. I was an "indoor" person. I could never even set my feet on the grass ... that was dirty. In my house there are specifically indoor and outdoor shoes. I was determined to keep the outside out!

I though I would die if I was ever transported back in time before the convenience of clean water.

I couldn't keep a plant alive ... touching dirt with my bare hands was a huge no-no!

If a drop of rain touched my hair I would hurl back inside like it was lava falling from the sky.

As She is showing me how to live in her sacred rhythm, I looked outside one morning and the mist took my breath away. It was so beautiful in my eyes I has to attempt to take a picture.

These are slow days. Comfy days. Days to cocoon and revel in the feel of a soft blanket and the warmth that caresses your cool skin.

Days to tenderly care for the inner seeds you've planted. With patience, reverence, and wonder.

May you have deep Samhain filled with powerful explorations!

Confession. My kids hate the idea of roasting our pumpkin seeds.

Yet, once done, they can't resist. There's a reason for that. It's because I decided a long time ago, to teach them to listen to their bodies.

Pumpkin seeds are packed with nutrients. While they don't have any one specific nutrient in high doses, pumpkin seeds are known for the fact that they have a wide variety of antioxidants and minerals. There's a little bit of everything in there!

Plus they are antiviral and anti-microbial.

So when they are done and cooling on the pan, I'm lucky if there's enough left to put a quarter of them in a jar to eat later!

Their bodies genuinely can't resist the goodness inside ;)

In case you were wondering, these were seasoned with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, and paprika ... absolutely delicious!

My biggest lesson from The Book of Ceremony by ingermansandra.

One area of my spirituality I thought would never really be "my thing" was ancestral work.

That was my first red flag. My resistance mechanism is in its full glory.

I know enough about myself to understand this is exactly where I should look next to uncover the gift, wisdom and lessons waiting there for me.

When I began training as an energy coach this past spring, I began to explore with curiosity and wonder my ancestry.

How do I participate in my spiritual development without offending other cultures? Without culturally appropriating?

Much was lost of the culture that inhabited the land I was born on. This is a story of another day.

As Samhain approaches, what I know to be true is that across time, generations, cultures and spaces, as a human collective we all accessed the same magical space in the Unseen realms. We simply have developed different tools, frame of references, modalities and religions to make sense of the Unseen realms and integrate that precious knowledge into daily living.

The biggest ah-ha moment came when Sandra wrote about how ceremonies were always designed for the people and their current circumstances. That's why we should never "take" another culture's ceremony because it was imbued with the energy for a specific purpose that might not match your own.

I loved how my system settled in the knowledge that no matter where we come from, we all have the tools to create ceremonies to assist us in a difficult time, offer support during transitions, or celebrate and amplify something yummy happening in our lives.

Your life is your own ceremony filled with magick.

Fall harvest 🍁!

We got them 🥕 out of our garden just in time to be preserved for winter soups and stews.

Every year I learn more and more about what each plant in my garden needs. Last year's carrot harvest barely made a dent. Even this year, I still did not leave enough space in between plants to allow for the carrot root to grow bigger.

The next planting season will be IT! 💪

They may be small, but they still taste yummy 👅

Fear presents itself in funny ways.

It's only by moving through your day with awareness that you can really catch it.

Something as silly as using a precious sticker.

How many time did you want to keep your sticker sheet pristine?

Not use a sticker because you can never get it back.

Because it will be ruined.

Because it will never be whole again.

That's fear. The fear that in the future you won't have enough.

It reverberates in the smallest daily decisions.

This is why I love Shadow work. To uncover the unconscious way we operate based on what we inherited.

WHAT THE CITY THOUGHT ME ABOUT CREATION.

A few weeks ago, my husband and I went downtown to celebrate a date with a lunch, spa day, and dinner.

The beauty of what we build as a society did not escape me and I had a moment filled with gratitude at how we managed to create convenience in our lives so that we may have a moment of not thinking about surviving.

The tall buildings.

The small park areas.

The malls with access to all sorts of amazing goods and services.

The cozy cafes and gathering places.

Yet by the end of the day, when we needed to drive back home, both our anxiety levels skyrocketed.

Feeling the collective rush and anxiety to "get somewhere", the impatience, the lack of awareness and consideration for anyone else around them, the world unconsciously reduced to only be able to seek to fulfill individual needs ... 🙄 ... we were glad to make it home 😮‍💨

Its not ecessarily about what we create, but about how we use it.

We can walk in busy urban areas and see beauty and community.

Just like we can only see how the systems keep us trapped in the day to day grind.

When you begin to look at your shadow self, unexpected things come to the surface.

As I'm going through my training to become an Energy Coach, I never realized gow much of my gifts and aspects of myself I was unconsciously programming myself to hide, deny, or suppress.

Frankly, I didn't even know it was a "thing" that can even happen 🤷‍♀️

A lesson that I began to walk with early in my training is on self-acceptance.

A small new act I've changed as part of my reclamation of Self is to use my full first name.

For years, I used to tell others to call me Ana ... because I thought it was easier for them to remember 🙄

So subtle energetically, but this was one of the many small ways I was denying part of myself with this one simple act.

My name is Ana-Maria ... in its wholeness!

Chocolate saved my life. There was a time when my

Chocolate saved my life.

There was a time when my picky eating and food adversities were really bad. My body preferred to starve than to eat something it couldn't stand. If it didn't look right, smell right, feel right, or taste right, it was not going down.

At its worst, I only ate a chocolate bar 🍫 for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Literally chocolate would the only sustenance I would eat for months at a time.

Alas, it was not the healthy kind of chocolate. It was filled with sugar, dairy, and goodness knows what else.

In a time when I'm walking with the lesson of honouring endings so that new beginnings can bloom, my relationship with chocolate needs some tender attention.

This week, I join themayanwisdomproject for 20 days of cacao ceremony.

My beautiful ceremonial cacao arrived. It was precious to explore it.

An instant burst of joy and a smile spread on my face ... like reuniting with an old friend.

You can feel the love and attention that went into its making by kakawchinimital.

The fabric pouches were the perfect physical representation of pulling the cacao out of a womb.

I will be savouring connecting with Mama Cacao with wonder and curiosity letting our relationship unfold with love and gratitude.
